Patricia Bourke D'Souza

I am an accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MIACP, MIAHIP) since 2001, an accredited Supervisor (MIACP) and am currently the only accredited Somatic Trauma Therapist, Supervisor and trainer in Ireland. I assisted Babette Rothschild on her training tours of Australia, New Zealand and Singapore and co-trained on her tours of Australia in 2016-2017. I have also completed extensive training in modalities including music and sound healing.

I work as a Somatic Trauma Therapist, Trainer, Supervisor and Consultant and have provided training workshops to a wide range of national and international organisations including Médecins Sans Frontières (Athens) and The Academy of Human Development (Singapore).

I currently work as Therapeutic Service Manager with First Fortnight and consultant to the National Concert Hall in overseeing the Music in Mind programme

I have worked for over 20 years in the corporate, statutory, voluntary , educational, community and voluntary sectors in Ireland and abroad and have considerable experience working in the areas of homelessness, mental health and refugee/asylum seeking. Over the past 30 years I have held posts in organisations including the ESB, Intel, Dublin City Council, the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive and Mental Health Ireland.

I am currently a Director of the Peter Mc Verry Trust and Chair their Research and Services Committee.

I regularly present at conferences, public events and facilitate mental health workshops in statutory, education, community/ voluntary and workplace settings. In 2017 I was invited to address the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs on the topic ‘Caring for the Elderly and Disadvantaged in Rural Ireland’.
